Mellifiq solves challenging odor problems in countryside town
Introduction.
There are about 1700 wastewater management plants in Sweden, all in charge of removing contaminants from the sewage.
The removal process is sophisticated, consisting of several different steps. It is normal for wastewater management plants to emit a bit of odor but in rarer cases, the odor is strong enough to negatively impact the surroundings.
The problem.
The waste water treatment facility in a small countryside town in southern Sweden had long been troubled by odors originating from the incoming sewage. We at Mellifiq were happy to assist the town with their problem!
The solution.
The effect of the initial plasma treatment was non-existent and something more powerful had to be implemented. Initially, the Nodora ADS air filtration system was considered. After deliberation, considering the high air humidity and very strict space requirements, the Ozonetech RENA Pro B2 ozone system was chosen to replace the plasma system.
The B-series is perfect when treatment needs range from moderate to high; usually, we are looking at air flows up to 3,000-5,000 Nm3/h. Its design allows for potential performance upgrades in three stages. The B-series can handle tough odor problems and also VOC emissions when combined with our Nodora ADS air treatment units.
Going for ozone also eliminated the need to replace carbon material at regular intervals.
Evaluation.
Mellifiq coordinated the installation and the odor problem was eliminated. In fact, the B2 model had so much installed capacity that it was able to run at 50% effect. The Ozonetech RENA Pro now runs 24/7 and keeps the town and its surroundings smelling clean and fresh.
