Introduction.

Mellifiq upgrades one of the oldest department stores in Sweden

Our current client is a famous century-old department store in a major Swedish city. It opened its doors in 1902, and in 1915, it was moved to its current location.

It is nowadays considered one of the most iconic places in the city, receiving over 12 million visitors every year.

The problem.

Kitchen exhaust air can be tricky to handle, and in this case, the department store reached out to us at Mellifiq for help with treating it.

The department store suffered from odor problems in its dining area, with the odors disturbing all visitors and staff. The department store also wanted to start reusing all the heat energy contained within the exhaust air in order to heat up the property.

In order to do all this, they needed a proper treatment solution.

The solution.

In 2019, this classic department store chose to install two Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solution systems from Mellifiq.

The Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solutions systems are some of our most powerful, specifically designed to tackle tricky kitchen exhaust air from commercial kitchens. By injecting ozone into the exhaust air stream, it successfully removes grease and odor particles from the exhaust air.

This has multiple benefits: the ozone makes sure that the ducts are free from grease buildups, preventing dangerous duct fires. The odor from the exhaust air is also reduced to such a degree that it is unnoticeable. Once purified, the heat energy in the exhaust air can also be recycled efficiently.

Evaluation.

Thanks to our system, the department store customers can now enjoy a better shopping and dining experience, undisturbed by any potential cooking odors.

In addition, the department store now benefits from lower energy costs during colder weather period since heat energy is effectively recycled from the treated exhaust air.
