A major TV broadcaster recovers heat energy with Mellifiq ozone solution
Introduction.
A major TV broadcaster in Sweden chose sustainability
The client in this project is one of the most prominent television broadcasters in Sweden, having its headquarters in one of Sweden’s biggest cities.
It has a very large market share and has consistently achieved high ratings ever since it was founded in the 50’s. They cover a wide variety of programs, ranging from news broadcasts to entertainment programs and comedy shows.
In addition to terrestrial television channels, the client also maintains an online web page where Swedes can watch the vast majority of all programs aired by the client.
The problem.
In this particular case, our client was especially concerned about their energy costs.
The staff restaurant at their headquarters produced quite a lot of exhaust air every day, like all commercial kitchens, and their existing treatment solution was not effective enough. This meant that they were not able to reuse the heat energy present in the exhaust air in order to reduce their energy costs.
For this reason, they contacted us at Mellifiq to see if we could provide a solution to their situation!
The solution.
And, we were happy to provide them a solution: the Ozonetech RENA 60 ozone system, which we installed at their headquarters in 2017.
Our Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solutions series, which the RENA 60 system is part of, is extremely efficient at treating kitchen exhaust air. Exhaust air from commercial kitchens tends to be very greasy and full of odor particles, which leads to problems like grease buildups in the ducts and disturbing odors that make life difficult for both neighbors and employees. The Kitchen Solutions system injects ozone into the exhaust air stream, purifying the exhaust air by effectively breaking down the grease and odor particles.
Removing grease buildups from the ducts drastically improves fire safety, since grease in larger quantities can cause some very dangerous fires, and eliminating odor particles makes life much easier for everyone rather than more difficult.
Most importantly, in this case, the purification process makes it possible to much more efficiently recycle the heat energy contained within the exhaust air.
Evaluation.
After our system was put to work, our client could start recovering heat energy from the kitchen without problem. Thanks to this, their property maintenance costs were reduced significantly.
Moreover, since our Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solution series can remove up to 100% of the exhaust air grease, the staff restaurant now enjoys increased fire safety, putting all the employees’ minds at ease.
