Introduction.

The hotel group continues to upgrade their hotels with Mellifiq's air treatment solutions

We are now dealing with a hotel operator originating from Sweden. It is the largest hotel chain in the Nordics, with a network of about 280 hotels in six countries. The specific hotel that we are helping out is located in one of the major Finnish cities, where they offer some very stylish rooms with breathtaking views.

Sustainability is a major focus area for the hotel, resulting in many projects to reduce energy consumption. Hotel staff are educated about sustainability, and all their construction projects always strive to be as ecological as possible.

 

The problem.

The hotel was looking for an solution to treat their kitchen exhaust air.

The exhaust air that comes from commercial kitchens is particularly greasy and full of odor particles. If the air is not treated efficiently, grease will start to build up in the ducts. Grease buildups are particularly dangerous in case they ever come in contact with a fire source since duct fires are very hard to put out. When it comes to untreated odor particles, they make the exhaust air smell terrible enough to make neighbors and others in the surrounding area start filing complaints.

In addition, exhaust air that is not pure enough makes the heat recovery process more difficult. Any remaining grease in the air also sticks to the heat exchanger that is responsible for recycling the heat, clogging it.

The solution.

In order to help the hotel with their problems, we at Mellifiq installed our Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solutions.

The RENA Kitchen Solutions system is specifically designed for commercial kitchens, and can be placed in an adjacent room or space so that it does not come into contact with the greasy cooking fumes.

The system produces ozone that breaks down grease and odor particles in the exhaust air, purifying the exhaust air and preventing grease buildups as well as bad odors. Reducing grease buildups also means that the fire risk decreases, and the purified exhaust air makes the heat recovery process much more efficient.

 

Evaluation.

Thanks to our ozone-based solution, the hotel has managed to keep odor levels minimal and the fire risk has decreased significantly.

They are also able to recover heat from the exhaust air more efficiently now as well.
