Mellifiq joining Forces with Leading Contractor

Mellifiq has signed a three-year contract to collaborate with a leading Swedish contracting company in addressing heavy metal contamination in the beautiful Stockholm archipelago, which is facing a pressing issue. Heavy metals originating from sulphide-bearing rocks have infiltrated the region’s water sources, affecting water quality and posing risks to the environment.

A comprehensive plan has been devised, centred around a tailored treatment plant for ditch systems, which are networks of channels designed to manage and control the flow of water used for drainage purposes. This strategic approach will collect and treat leachate specifically derived from the heavy metal-laden rocks, safeguarding the region’s water resources.

We will analyze the composition and concentration of heavy metals in drainage water and design an optimized multistage water treatment process, including automation, filtration, oxidation, and membrane filtration, among other components.
