Shopping mall kitchens enjoy premium ozone treatment
Introduction.
Real estate owner recovers energy from 25 restaurants
In this project, our real estate customer is especially ambitious!
They operate one of the largest shopping malls in Scandinavia, a mall that houses over 25 restaurants and offers countless other experiences such as built-in movie theatres. Our client takes it environmental committments seriously, and are highly certified according to BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method).
The problem.
Most solutions on the market used technology that had to install equipment in the ducts, needed frequent maintenance, or could not guarantee kitchen ducts without grease build-ups. Additionally, these solutions did not have the flexibility needed to handle moving restaurants and changing treatment capacity needs.
The shopping mall owner was determined to find a top-class solution that could minimize odors, maintenance needs and the risk of fire all while recovering heat energy from the exhaust air. Another crucial goal was to find a flexible solution since restaurants can close, move, change menu type or rebuild their premises.
The solution.
The Mellifiq delivery consisted of several high-performance Ozonetech RENA Kitchen Solutions ozone systems.
The installed ozone systems were in charge of treating the kitchen exhaust air from all 25 restaurants, and some restaurants shared ozone systems. The Ozonetech RENA systems are wall-mounted and very flexible when it comes to placement; it is possible to place them at a distance from the kitchen, in order to keep them away from the greasy exhaust air. The ozone is produced using the oxygen in the surrounding air, and is then led to the kitchen ducts through easily installable Teflon tubes. All systems are remotely monitored 24/7 and our service center can provide remote assistance in case it is needed.
Evaluation.
Our client is now able to recover vast amounts of heat energy from all the shopping mall restaurants, saving them considerable amounts of money every year, and this is all thanks to our state-of-the-art ozone systems.
There have been no reports of odor problems or fire incidents connected to the restaurant kitchens since our systems were commissioned. In other words, our treatment solution was a complete success and contributed to us at Mellifiq winning a prestigious business prize the same year as the delivery.
