Activated Carbon in water applications

PFAS removal.

The non-stick and water and oil resistant features that make PFAS, or Per- and Polyfluorinated substances, useful for numerous consumer products and industrial applications, one of which is fire-extinguishing foams, are the very reason why they are hard to degrade in nature.

PFAS, a group of man-made synthetic chemicals, dissolve in water, persist and build up easily in the environment and in the bodies of all living creatures.

The porous structure and the chemical properties of the activated carbon results in its good removal efficiency of PFAS. GAC (granulated activated carbon) and PAC (powdered activated carbon) filters are an essential step in the water treatment process and PFAS removal from water, especially from groundwater where the PFAS concentrations are higher than in surface water.
