Mellifiq Leads Landmark Environmental Project with Europe’s Largest Electrocoagulation Plant

Mellifiq is spearheading a landmark environmental initiative that is attracting national attention in Sweden and growing international interest across Europe. The project was recently featured on Sweden’s main evening news broadcast.

At the core of the initiative is a multi-million euro investment by Aspa Bruk in a next-generation water purification facility, developed using Mellifiq’s advanced electrocoagulation process, optimized to deliver robust performance under varying flow and contaminants.

Scheduled for commissioning in late 2025, the facility will become the largest electrocoagulation plant ever built in Europe, designed to significantly reduce emissions of phosphorus and suspended solids. The goal is to protect Lake Vättern, one of Northern Europe’s most vital sources of drinking water.

Process equipment installation is already underway, and industry peers are closely watching the development. Several have already entered into discussions to adopt similar solutions to meet their own water treatment challenges.
