Introduction.

Energy efficient long-term solution for real estate company

Our current client is one of Sweden’s largest listed real estate companies, committed to long-term sustainability in everything they do. They operate in several of the biggest cities in Sweden, and have both commercial actors and municipalities as clients.

They were among the first property owners in Sweden to install an effective solution to treat kitchen exhaust air. The installation was made at the large canteen in one of the corporate buildings that they manage in one of the bigger Swedish cities.

The problem.

Our client had two main concerns in this case:

Up to this point, they had to manually flush the kitchen exhaust ducts regularly, which in turn led to high service costs. They also experienced odor problems due to grease build-up, with the grease also representing a high fire risk.

 

The solution.

To tackle these problem, our client decided to order and install a high-performance RENA ozone system from us at Mellifiq.

It was chosen for capacity reasons; a single unit is sufficient to purify the entire air flow. In addition, an assembly is sufficient to clean both channels. Another aspect was that once the equipment is installed and in operation, hardly any maintenance is needed as the system is self-propelled. The system security is also very high: if any sort of error occurs, it shuts itself down.

The system itself is installed on a stainless steel plate and placed in a room close to the kitchen. This way, it is kept completely secure from greasy air streams.

Evaluation.

Once our system was in place, the problems that the client experienced regarding odors and grease build-up in the ducts were reduced significantly.

This way, the need for the client to clean the ducts is minimized. The main benefit, however, is the money saved by energy being recovered from the exhaust air.
