Introduction.

Mellifiq's delivery prevents contamination from algae, bacteria and other microorganisms

The Kilinochchi Water Supply and Sanitation Improvement Project (WaSSIP) in Sri Lanka is an initiative by the Ministry of Water Supply in Sri Lanka, and our current customer. The project concerns over half a million inhabitants and aims to improve their access to running water while also improving sanitation in the selected districts.

The current coverage percentage for people with access to running water is at 44%. Through this project, the ministry is looking to improve this percentage to 60%.

The problem.

The project was looking for a new wastewater treatment solution, and contacted us at Mellifiq to see if we could provide one for them.

We were assigned to design and construct a new wastewater treatment plant that would purify the wastewater and turn it into high-quality potable water for the community.

The solution.

First, the wastewater undergoes the conventional steps of treatment and chemical dosing.

Then, as a last step, the Ozonetech RENA Vivo B4 is used to convert natural organic matter (NOM) into assimilable organic carbon (AOC), preventing algal blooms during the dry period of the year. Furthermore, the Vivo B4 solution functions as an additional microbial barrier that prevents contamination from bacteria and other microorganisms.
