Mellifiq Awarded Contract for Advanced Wastewater Treatment System at Rail Depot
Mellifiq has been awarded a contract to design, implement and commission an advanced wastewater treatment system for the Saltsjöbanan rail depot as part of Region Stockholm’s extensive upgrade of its rail infrastructure.
As part of the major enhancement of urban infrastructure at the Saltsjöbanan, including reconnecting to Slussen, ordering new vehicles, and refurbishing depots, Mellifiq will play a key role in ensuring sustainable operations. Our treatment system is designed to handle the challenging wastewater generated from train washes, primarily contaminated with suspended solids, emulsified oils, tensides and transition metal ions.
The innovative AxoPur™ solution provided by Mellifiq will feature our cutting-edge EC-technology, particularly effective at treating heavily contaminated waters without the use of chemical additives. The system will also include Water Maid™ filtration and water polishing stages, enabling water reuse within the depot’s processes. This not only reduces the operational costs associated with water management but also significantly diminishes the environmental impact of depot operations.
This installation is the fourth of its kind and setting a new standard for the industry. We expect to set precedense for future installations across numerous depots throughout the region, revolutionizing wastewater management in public transportation sectors globally.
“The installation of this AxoPur™ system is a significant step towards modernizing our public transport infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of environmental goals,” said Behrooz Gilanpour, CEO of Mellifiq. “This project not only reflects our capability to tackle complex environmental challenges but also positions us for further expansion in the transport sector.”
