Mellifiq Delivers Full-Scale Treatment Results in Kramfors at Högberget Landfill
Thirteen permit parameters. Nine target values. All of them met.
The leachate at the Högberget landfill facility is one of the most complex and demanding leachate streams in Europe. Full of particles, strongly alkaline, heavily buffered, and carrying heavy metals, PFAS and more. Two earlier trials at the site had failed to show that the required levels could be reached. In the summer of 2025, Mellifiq’s own first attempt failed too: an acquired mobile electrocoagulation unit, run directly on the leachate, could not handle it at all.
So Mellifiq built its own during 2026. The Mellifiq SRE treatment line was assembled on-site across multiple containers and configured for full-scale leachate water treatment. The process combines sedimentation, pH adjustment, advanced filtration, precipitation and flocculation, flotation, sludge separation, ozonation, and final polishing in a carefully optimized sequence of treatment steps that achieves what no single process could accomplish alone.
All thirteen parameters in the provisional permit conditions are met, along with all nine target values. Nickel and cobalt are reduced by more than 99%, zinc and arsenic by more than 97%, and PFAS by at least 92% without adding any harmful chemicals. The outgoing PFAS concentration even sits below the laboratory reporting limit, so the true reduction is higher still.
The same approach can be configured for other leachate and process streams. If you are facing complex water treatment challenges, contact Mellifiq to explore how we can help.
