Mellifiq Delivers Media for Advanced Flue Gas Cleaning

Mellifiq has been entrusted to deliver large quantities of selected media for the advanced cleaning of flue gases. Flue gas is the exhaust generated by combustion processes such as waste incineration and industrial manufacturing. It often carries harmful pollutants that can affect air quality and public health, which is why legislation requires these emissions to be cleaned before they are released into the atmosphere.

For this application, the client will use OCM-MercCAT, a specially impregnated activated carbon developed for the efficient removal of mercury in particular, as well as dioxins, furans, and other heavy metals. A key part of the client’s requirements is that the activated carbon is completely free from bromine (Br). This prevents corrosion and damage to downstream equipment that can otherwise occur when bromine reacts with other substances present in the process.

OCM-MercCAT is injected directly into the flue gas stream, where it binds the pollutants before the carbon and the captured contaminants are filtered out together. The result is a reliable, high-performance solution that supports safe emission compliance while protecting both critical equipment and the surrounding environment.
