Mellifiq Leads the Way in PFAS Removal at Waste Management Facility

Mellifiq is deploying a new PFAS treatment plant at the Löt Waste Management Facility in Vallentuna, Sweden. The system is built around Mellifiq’s proprietary AxoPur® electrocoagulation technology, designed to treat leachate from older landfill areas with high contaminant loads.

The AxoPur® system offers highly efficient PFAS removal with low chemical demand and significantly reduced sludge production. Several conventional treatment methods—such as activated carbon and ion exchange—had previously been tested on site but were hindered by clogging, short service life, and high maintenance requirements.

This project marks another important step in Mellifiq’s mission to deliver scalable and sustainable water treatment technologies to meet evolving environmental challenges.
