Mellifiq Removes Pharmaceuticals from Hospital Wastewater in Romania

Hospital wastewater carries pharmaceutical residues and microorganisms that conventional treatment does not fully remove, and the requirements placed on new clinics and hospitals are becoming increasingly stringent. Mellifiq has now commissioned a turn-key ozone solution for hospital wastewater treatment in Romania, delivered together with a long-standing process partner.

The plant treats a flow of up to 10 m³/h with pharmaceutical residues reaching several hundred thousand ng/L. Additional buffer volume tanks are used to balance the inflow, while a Water Maid prefilter protects the Ozonetech RENA Vivo ozone system, which includes an integrated oxygen generator, ozone destructor and ozone monitoring for safe operation and long-term uptime.

The project is the result of several years of process development for this type of application.
