Mellifiq Awarded Contract to Evaluate Advanced Treatment of PFAS-contaminated Leachate Water
The waste management facility produces annual leachate volumes of approximately 80,000 m³ with variable leachate flows and pollutant concentrations driven by seasonal precipitation. The pilot aims to evaluate the effectiveness of different treatment process in reducing PFAS concentrations before the leachate is sent to downstream treatment.
The project features a mobile, containerized pilot system designed for continuous outdoor operation. The multi-stage treatment concept includes sand filtration for particle removal, controlled advanced oxidation and adsorption polishing for the final PFAS removal.
Mellifiq’s scope covers the full pilot project, including delivery, installation, commissioning, operational support, and training of local operators. The trial will run for several months to collect robust data across varying flow and concentration conditions. A comprehensive technical report will conclude the project, including recommendations for a full-scale PFAS treatment solution.
